Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso has refuted reports circulating on social media that he and his supporters are planning a nationwide protest over the country’s worsening security situation.
In a statement shared on his X account on June 1, 2026, the former Kano State governor described the claim as entirely false, stressing that neither he nor his political movement is involved in organizing any protest. He said the message being circulated online does not reflect his position or that of his supporters.
Kwankwaso explained that his attention had been drawn to a viral post alleging that he was mobilizing people for a nationwide demonstration. However, he maintained that such information was misleading and should be disregarded by members of the public.
According to him, he remains committed to addressing national challenges through lawful, peaceful, and democratic means. He emphasized that he does not support actions capable of disrupting public order, encouraging violence, or resulting in the destruction of lives and property.
The NDC leader stated that responsible leadership requires pursuing constructive solutions to the country’s problems rather than engaging in activities that could heighten tensions. He reiterated his confidence in democratic processes, noting that elections remain the most effective and legitimate way for citizens to express their views and bring about political change.
Kwankwaso also expressed optimism about the future of his party, saying it would continue to pursue its political objectives through peaceful campaigns and by seeking the support of voters at the ballot box.
He urged Nigerians to be cautious about the information they encounter online and avoid spreading unverified reports. The former governor warned against individuals who deliberately circulate false narratives capable of misleading the public.
He said, “The statement being circulated about plans for a protest is false and does not represent my views or those of my supporters. We remain committed to democratic engagement and peaceful political participation.”
Kwankwaso therefore called on citizens to verify information from credible sources before sharing it, stressing the importance of promoting truth and responsible communication in the digital space.
