The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has dismissed reports circulating on social media and other platforms claiming to contain the party’s primary election results, stressing that no official results have been released in any state of the federation.
The clarification came after a high-level meeting between a delegation of the national leadership of the Kwankwasiya Movement, the National Leader of the NDC, Senator Henry Seriake Dickson, and the party’s national leadership.
The closed-door meeting, which lasted several hours, focused on resolving disagreements between the Kwankwasiya Movement and legacy officials of the party in Kano State.
According to a statement issued by the National Publicity Secretary of the NDC, Osa Director Esq., Senator Dickson and the party leadership are actively mediating in the matter to promote greater inclusion and participation among all members of the party.
The statement emphasized that the NDC remains committed to the principles of internal democracy and will not impose candidates in Kano State or any other part of the country.
“The NDC leadership will not impose candidates in Kano State, and indeed across the nation, as the party cherishes the virtues of internal democracy,” the statement said.
It added that discussions at the meeting were productive and aimed at strengthening unity within the party ahead of future political activities.
The party also urged members and the general public to disregard any purported lists of primary election results currently in circulation, reiterating that no official results have been announced in any state.
“The NDC has not released any official results of its primary elections in any state. Hence, the public and party members are urged to disregard any such list in circulation,” the statement added.
