EPL: Chelsea confirm four players to leave club as Xabi Alonso arrives

According to a report by Daily Post on Wednesday June 10, 2026, Chelsea have confirmed that four players will depart Stamford Bridge at the end of June 2026, as the club begins another phase of squad restructuring alongside the arrival of new head coach Xabi Alonso.

The Premier League side announced the departures in an official retained and released list published on Wednesday, marking the end of the 2025/26 campaign and the start of a new era under Alonso, who is expected to take charge this summer.

According to the club statement, Brodi Hughes, Richard Olise, Sam Rak-Sakyi, and Jimi Tauriainen will all leave the club when their contracts expire on June 30.

Brodi Hughes departs after 13 years in Chelsea’s academy system. The defender joined the club as an Under-8 and progressed through every youth level at Cobham, also gaining senior experience during a loan spell at AFC Wimbledon, where he featured in League One football.

Richard Olise also exits after a decade with the club. He joined as an Under-9 and developed through Chelsea’s academy structure, earning recognition with involvement in first-team matchday squads, including a UEFA Conference League trip to Astana during the 2024/25 season.

Sam Rak-Sakyi leaves after rising through the academy from a young age and eventually breaking into senior football. The midfielder made four first-team appearances, including involvement in European competition, and also represented England at youth level during his development.

Jimi Tauriainen completes the list of departures. Signed in 2020, he progressed into the club’s senior environment and was included among the substitutes for the 2024 Carabao Cup final against Liverpool, highlighting his proximity to the first-team setup.
