Suspected terrorists have abducted a resident identified as Yusuf Bazamfare and set ablaze a Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps outpost, a brothel, and a residential building during an attack in Kebbi State.
The incident occurred on Saturday night in Tsamiya community, Bagudo Local Government Area of the state, and was confirmed in a statement issued on Sunday by the spokesperson of the Kebbi State Police Command, SP Bashir Usman.
According to the statement, the assailants stormed the community, opened fire sporadically, and torched a makeshift NSCDC checkpoint, a local brothel, and the residence of one Sule Mai Goge. Alhaji Yusuf Bazamfare was also kidnapped in the course of the attack.
Following the incident, the Commissioner of Police in Kebbi State ordered the immediate deployment of additional security personnel to the area to reinforce security and protect lives and property within the community.
The police command disclosed that it was working alongside other security agencies to rescue the abducted victim and identify those responsible for the attack. Investigations have already commenced, with operations being intensified to track down the perpetrators and bring them to justice.
Residents of the area have been urged to remain calm and continue cooperating with security agencies by sharing useful information that could aid ongoing efforts to tackle criminal activities and restore lasting peace to the community.
The attack adds to a growing list of security challenges recently recorded across parts of Kebbi State, prompting renewed calls for stronger surveillance and protection of vulnerable communities.
