Abdullahi On Wike — “He Picks People Like Market Goods” — Abdullahi Takes Swipe at Wike

Former PDP Deputy National Publicity Secretary Ibrahim Abdullahi has accused FCT Minister Nyesom Wike of unilaterally assembling an illegitimate leadership structure for the party, alleging that Wike appoints people picked from markets to form a purported National Executive Committee and Board of Trustees.

Speaking on Channels Television, Abdullahi was responding to questions about INEC’s continued recognition of the Abdulrahman-led PDP faction on its website.

He said the commission’s listing of Abdulrahman Mohamed as National Chairman and Senator Samuel Anyanwu as National Secretary does not matter because the Supreme Court has already settled the leadership dispute.

He added that even Hamed Yayari Mohammed, listed as national treasurer, remains with the Turaki faction and had been with them only a day earlier.

Abdullahi stated that his lawyers had formally notified INEC of the Supreme Court ruling the previous day and were awaiting the certified true copy of the judgment, which he said should have been released within seven days.

He questioned how Wike could already predict the release date for Monday, describing it as evidence of how compromised the system has become. He emphasized that no part of the Supreme Court judgment can be altered, since all five justices have copies of the ruling and the decision is final.

Abdullahi compared the lawful process followed by the BOT in appointing an interim 13-member committee with what he called Wike’s shambolic arrangement of handpicking individuals with money to form a fake leadership structure.

In his words, “It is not like this kind of ramshackle arrangement where an individual, after getting intoxicated from the left side of his bed, he starts nominating people he picked from Oshodi market.”

“Or from Aba market, or from Opiweka in Onitsha, or Yahia in Yanyan in Maraba, and just come and form them as a NEC or BOT and everything, because he has small dollars that he dishes to them.”
