PDP: Wike Has Never Been My National Leader, I Don’t Know When He Was Appointed – Agbedi

Fred Agbedi, a prominent member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has dismissed suggestions that the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, serves as his national leader within the party.

Speaking during an interview on Channels Television on Wednesday, June 17, 2026, Agbedi made it clear that he does not recognize Wike in such a capacity and questioned the basis upon which anyone could assign him that title.

During the interview, Agbedi responded to discussions surrounding leadership and influence within the PDP. He firmly stated that Wike has never occupied the position of national leader in relation to him and expressed uncertainty about when or how

such a designation may have emerged. According to Agbedi, there has never been any official announcement or process that elevated Wike to that role within the party structure.

In his words, “He has never been my national leader, I don’t know when he was appointed, which day he was appointed.”

The lawmaker’s response also highlights the ongoing conversations about internal party dynamics and the role of influential politicians in shaping the PDP’s future.

By openly questioning Wike’s status as a national leader, Agbedi has added his voice to the broader debate about leadership legitimacy and party hierarchy.
