Omo-Agege made this announcement on Thursday in Abuja while speaking to reporters shortly after handing in his finalized expression of interest and nomination forms for the ruling All Progressives Congress for the upcoming election.
He mentioned that discussions with stakeholders and supporters from his district significantly impacted his decision to enter the Senate race again.
The ex-senator from Delta Central articulated that the encouragement from political backers and residents convinced him that his legislative experience and skills were still necessary within the National Assembly.
He noted that numerous individuals from his district conveyed belief in his potential to further contribute to representation and political leadership.
Omo-Agege, who was the APC’s governorship candidate in Delta State during the 2023 general elections, remarked that the rising demand for his return mirrored the hopes of his constituents.
He observed that citizens viewed his role in the Senate as a way to amplify the district’s voice and promote issues related to development in the area.
Moreover, he pointed out that as anticipation builds around President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s potential re-election in 2027, it is crucial to have seasoned political figures to aid in supporting the administration’s legislative plans and efforts.
He expressed that his constituents agreed on the importance of having a strong political leader who could enhance the president’s initiatives both in the National Assembly and in the next election period.
The former Deputy Senate President also addressed the economic direction of the current government, citing developments in Delta State as evidence of the effects of federal policies.
He indicated that the financial stability enjoyed by some state governments is linked to the initiatives introduced by the Tinubu administration since it began.
He stated, “For example, my governor proudly claims he has not taken any loans since taking office, and we are pleased with that. This is due to the President’s policies.”
