In a recent post on Punch Newspaper on Monday, May 18, 2026, Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has confirmed that seven teachers were abducted during the recent attack on schools in the Oriire Local Government Area of the state, while one teacher was killed by the assailants.

The governor disclosed this on Sunday while addressing journalists after a security meeting with service commanders and heads of security agencies over the worsening security situation in the state.
