BREAKING: “We Will Not Allow Any Opposition With No Clear Vision Take Nigeria Backward–Tinubu

According to a report by Daily Post on Saunday, May 24, 2026, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has warned Nigerians against allowing politicians without clear vision or structured plans to take the country backward, stressing that leadership must be guided by purpose, direction, and commitment to national progress.

He made the remarks on Sunday after receiving the Certificate of Return and the All Progressives Congress party flag as the party’s candidate for the 2027 presidential election.

The event took place at the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre in Abuja, where party leaders, delegates, and supporters gathered for the formal presentation following the conclusion of the APC presidential primary.

The president’s emergence as the party’s candidate marked the end of the internal selection process ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Tinubu stated that his administration remains committed to consolidating ongoing reforms aimed at strengthening the country’s economy and governance structures.

He explained that the reforms being implemented are designed to create long-term stability and improve national development outcomes.

According to him, the goal of his government is to ensure that Nigeria moves forward on a path that cannot easily be reversed by future policy disruptions.

The president also expressed readiness to engage in dialogue with political opponents and critics of his administration.

He noted that constructive engagement with differing political perspectives is part of a healthy democratic system and contributes to better governance.

According to him, disagreements in politics should be managed through discussion and not division, as national progress depends on cooperation across political lines.

Tinubu further explained that democracy is not based on uniformity of ideas but on the coexistence of diverse opinions united by a shared commitment to national development.

He stated that political competition should focus on ideas, policies, and strategies that can improve the lives of citizens rather than personal attacks or divisive rhetoric.

According to him, a strong democracy requires active participation from all sides of the political spectrum.

He reiterated that his administration would continue to work towards improving economic conditions, strengthening institutions, and promoting national unity.

According to him, the policies being implemented are part of a broader strategy to reposition the country for sustainable growth and development.

He emphasized that governance requires consistency, patience, and long-term planning to achieve meaningful results.

Tinubu also addressed the importance of maintaining focus on national interest above political differences.

He noted that leaders must prioritize the welfare of citizens and avoid actions that could destabilize the country’s progress.

According to him, political leadership should be guided by responsibility and accountability to the people.

During the event, the president acknowledged the role of party members and stakeholders who participated in the electoral process that led to his emergence as the APC candidate.

He stated that the unity of the party remains essential as preparations continue for the general elections.

According to him, internal cohesion within political parties contributes to stronger democratic institutions.

He said, “We will not allow any opposition with no clear vision take Nigeria backward.”
