Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has expressed confidence that the ruling All Progressives Congress will perform better in the FCT during the 2027 elections because of ongoing development projects across Abuja.
According to a report by Vanguard on Tuesday, May 26, 2026, Wike spoke after inspecting several projects ahead of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s second anniversary in office. According to him, residents are beginning to see the impact of governance through improved roads, streetlights, water projects, and housing developments, especially in satellite towns and rural communities.
He said more than 20 projects would be ready for commissioning, including roads in Bwari, Kuje, Gwagwalada, and AMAC Area Councils. He added that communities outside the city centre were now receiving attention that previous governments had failed to provide.
The minister also inspected the rehabilitation of the Appeal Court Complex in Dakibiyu, judges’ quarters in Katampe, and a new relocation site for the Apo Mechanic Village. He noted that most of the projects were close to completion.
At the Apo relocation site, Wike said roads and streetlights had already been completed, while plans were underway for a police station and residential quarters for officers.
Speaking on the 2027 elections, Wike said the recent Area Council election results showed growing support for the APC in places where the party previously struggled to win. He argued that ongoing infrastructure projects were changing public opinion across the FCT.
In his words, “What reason would people have not to vote for Mr President now? How many governments before now have been able to impact the satellite towns the way this administration is doing?”
