JUST IN: I Brought My Prison Bag With Me Today And I Told The Judge When They Are Ready, I’m Outside-Sowore

African Action Congress (AAC) presidential candidate for the 2027 election, Omoyele Sowore, has declared that he was fully prepared to be remanded in prison after a Federal High Court ordered that he be sent to the Kuje Correctional Centre in Abuja amid his legal battle with the Department of State Services (DSS) over remarks in which he described President Bola Tinubu as a “criminal.”

The court ruling came after proceedings in Sowore’s case against the DSS, during which the presiding judge declined the AAC flagbearer’s application seeking the judge’s recusal from handling the matter.

Speaking in an interview on TV Platinum,on Monday, 22 June, 2026, after the court session, Sowore said he had anticipated the possibility of being sent to prison and had come to court fully prepared for that outcome. “I’m prepared. I brought my prison bag with me today and I told the judge who said he can’t recuse himself that when they are ready, I’m outside.

The AAC presidential candidate said his decision to arrive with a prison bag reflected his expectation that the court could order his detention. He maintained that he was ready to face the consequences of his legal battle and would not be intimidated by the proceedings.
